Tips for Cottage Core Home Curb Appeal

Let's face it, we all want our house to be that beautiful house on the block. You know the one that stands out and has you wanting to know who lives there. Making your home have curb appeal can be fun and exciting. Don't worry if the lawn isn't perfectly manicured or maintained, that is part of the charm. I have a few tips that can turn your yard into a cottage core fantasy.

Large Metal or Stone Planters

Having a handful of large stone pots filled with wildflowers can dress up your front porch beautifully. Place them on the steps or around the front porch by the door to add a dramatic effect. Add in some wooden crates and metal bins for versatility. You can mix and match with colors or keep it cohesive with just your favorite flower or plant. I am beyond excited to fill some terracotta pots with pink peonies this year.

Distressed Rocking Chairs

This one can be a bit tricky. Not many places to find old rocking chairs, other than antique shops and thrift stores. If you can't find a rocking chair, any old rustic style chair or stool will work. The idea is to have a piece of distressed furniture on the porch or in the yard. If you want to add a more cozy feel, throw in a few floral or gingham accent pillows. And as always if you have a newer looking item you can DIY it by using sandpaper to scrap off layers of paint to get that rustic look.

Floral Door Wreaths

Hanging a lovely floral wreath on the door will instantly make your home more inviting. You can go crazy with all of the designs and styles. For a real challenge, make your own wreath. Use a wreath hanger if possible, so you can easily change it whenever you feel like it. I normally change mine for every season. For extra flair I make sure to add a large gingham plaid bow and wrap it with a string of fairy lights.
